The shot echoed through the Garden District in Tucson during the late afternoon hours. A tragedy struck the family home on Linden Street.
A toddler reached a small-caliber rifle and accidentally shot a one-year-old baby. Upon arrival, the Tucson Police Department found a wounded child within the house. The injured child was immediately rushed to the hospital.
According to the authorities, the child passed away the next day. The Police Department’s Sergeant explained that the investigation showed no signs of vicious intent. Sergeant Pete Dugan remained silent about the deceased child’s name, as well as if the toddler shooting the baby was related.
Dugan added that it was a tragic reminder for people who have firearms in their homes to keep them locked away and out of the reach of children.
